This book was created as a companion book for The Enormous Turnip!, but it would also make a great addition to a Fall, Pumpkin, or even Halloween unit.  The text for this book demonstrates the need for help and the helpfulness of friends similar to the story line in The Enormous Turnip!  The text is supported by picture cues and the students will see a little surprise unfold as they read.  This book is great for practicing sight words and decoding strategies.  Although it has more text than most of the books that I create, the story still follows through using mostly the predictable sentence frame above.
